Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers!)
Confirmation
-
What can you tell me about confirmation classes?
Confirmation classes are offered for 6th through 8th graders on Wednesday evenings during the school year with breaks for the month of December and Lent. Students are encouraged to take part in Lenten worship by serving as ushers and at the Lenten suppers provided.
Our confirmation classes begin on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm and end at 8:00pm. We divide that time into three seperate learning areas: a time with our Pastor to learn the Bible study that we are focusing on, a craft/activity time with our Director of Youth and Family Ministry, and a time with the group's confirmation mentor, which is often an adult from the congregation that leads a smaller group of Confirmation kids through their journey at Redeemer.
We offer a special AWE Worship for all members of Redeemer, but especially for our Confirmation students that will take place in the sanctuary once a month. Refer to the calendar for exact times.

Sunday School
-
When are Sunday School classes offered? What can you tell me about Sunday School at Redeemer?
Sunday school is offered for Nursery (3 yrs.) -12th grade at 9:15am on Sunday mornings. They begin in the fall during our Rally Sunday (weekend after Labor Day) and end in mid-May.
Sunday School, for Nursery through 1st grade, begins with a music/opening time in our music area. On occasion throughout the year, we call these kids our "Primary Praisers" and they will share at worship many of the songs they have learned in this time. Following their Opening, they head to their own classrooms, divided by grade/age. They will consistently stay in that same room and have the same teacher and assistant teacher throughout the year. We find that this age group thrives better with a similar situation given to them each week. They will work on a Bible story for each week and a craft. Parents are welcome to join their child if they feel more comfortable.
Our 2nd-5th grade students have a Workshop Rotation for their Sunday School learning time. Each week they will rotate between stations of the Creative Station (craft), Tent Tales (Bible story/computers), the Arkade (Bible Trivia), Cinema on the Mount (movie and popcorn), and the Solid Rock Productions (drama or puppetry) rooms.
Our 6th-7th grades are combined for Sunday School, as well as 8th-9th grades. Our high school is also encouraged to attend Sunday School with our Director of Youth and Family.
Wedding
-
How do I schedule a wedding at Redeemer?
Redeemer hosts weddings for its members and their families only. The ceremony will be presided over by the current pastor of Redeemer (or his/her designee). The first step is to call the church office and set up a visit with the pastor. During this visit, a series of counseling sessions will be scheduled and a date placed on the church calendar. A wedding Guideline booklet will also be furnished which will give further specific guidelines.
Worship
-
What is the worship schedule?
Worship is offered at 5:30 pm on Saturday evenings, and 8:00am and 10:30am on Sunday mornings. During the summer months, we offer the same service on Saturday night but only one service on Sundays at 9:30am.
Saturday night worship is an informal setting, more of a casual worship. This service follows a less formal version of a Holy Communion service from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Holy Communion is offered weekly. We worship with traditional Lutheran liturgy on Sunday morning, with occasional alternative settings led by organ and other instrumentation.
The 8:00am "traditional" service follows a Holy Communion service from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Holy Communion is offered weekly.
The 10:30am "contemporary" service includes the vital elements of worship used by Christians in the early church — gathering, word, meal, and sending. Worship songs are chosen from a variety of sources; congregational singing is led by a songleader and worship band. Holy Communion is offered weekly.
