Welcome

Come Join Us
You are welcome at Redeemer Lutheran Church! The congregation warmly invites you to worship and learn more about the congregation. Redeemer members describe themselves as open, friendly, caring, and active.
We hope you find this is true.
Come and See
Redeemer Lutheran Church began in 1965. It is located in west Waverly at the intersection of Bremer Avenue and 20th street (Iowa Highway 3 and business U.S.Highway 218). Its members includes households of one and many, young and old, people with a range of denominational backgrounds.
Come and Listen
To fit busy lives, three worship services are held each week -- a shorter service at 5:30pm Saturday, a service at 8:00am Sunday, and a contemporary service at 10:30am Sunday. Worship services include solid biblical theology and inspiring direction for the week ahead. They are enhanced by an array of musical talent, and members volunteer as vocalists, musicians, greeters, lectors, ushers, acolytes, and worship assistants. During the summer, we combine our two services on Sunday to a 9:30am worship service. It begins the weekend after Memorial weekend and returns to two services on Rally Sunday, the weekend after Labor Day weekend.
Learning opportunities for three-year-olds through adults begin at 9:15am, Sunday. The rotation learning experience for students from second through fifth grade is called Redeemer Rocks. We also offer Sunday School for grades 6th-9th on Sunday mornings.
Come and Serve
Redeemer’s small group ministry brings members together for fellowship, Bible study, and interests ranging from woodworking to playing softball to a book club to cooking for those in need. Families, couples, and individuals enjoy time together.
Redeemer traditions include a Rally Sunday opening the learning year, a Christmas cantata, Lenten services preceded by soup suppers, and potlucks to celebrate important events. Other events at Redeemer include a live nativity, a trunk-or-treat event for Halloween, and a Resurrection Easter egg hunt.
The congregation offers its facilities to two dozen community groups and dedicates a fifth of its budget to benevolence.
