Greetings from Redeemer Lutheran Church!
We are planning an exciting opportunity for Christian growth that your children will want to participate in: Day Camp! We want to explain the program to you and encourage you as a parent to have your children involved in this unique opportunity.
Day Camp is a Christian education program offered in partnership with EWALU Lutheran Bible Camp in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Ewalu brings camp to us! It is a program set up for those elementary-age children who are yet too young to spend an entire week at camp, and those who love camp so much they want to take advantage of another opportunity. This is a great opportunity for them to have elements of a Bible camp experience right at our own church. The grades invited to attend full Day Camp are students who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Preschool children ages four and up are invited to attend a morning program as well.
The Day Camp is staffed with college-age staff from Ewalu, trained in youth ministry, who will act as Day Camp Leaders. They will be leading the program with a few volunteers from our congregation. The youth will be involved in Bible studies, recreation, worship, crafts, games, and service experiences. This week will be an outstanding experience.
The week our church has reserved is August 6th-10th. The daily schedule for Monday through Thursday will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The program will be using the church as the “home base” while occasionally making use of parks and other facilities in our area. Students attending Day Camp will need to pack a lunch and bring a water bottle each day during the week. For our Preschool age four and up students, Day Camp will run from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., so a packed lunch will not be necessary.
To conclude our week, we will have a grill out/ potluck supper and program on the evening of Thursday August 9th. The supper will start at 6:00pm with the program beginning in the sanctuary at 7:00pm.
The cost of Day Camp is $25 for school age students and $15 for our Nursery and Pre-K kids; with a maximum amount of $75 per family. The amount paid by each family will cover around half of the cost for the day camp, with Redeemer paying the remainder of the fee.
To register, please fill out a registration form (click on link below) for EACH student planning to attend and return with the registration cost to the Redeemer office no later than July 8th. Extra registration forms can also be found in the church office!
